The Importance of Dental Care

Good oral health is an important part of your pet's overall health. Dental disease affects approximately 85% of dogs and cats over 1 year of age. One of the ways to keep your pet`s teeth and gums healthy at home is to brush regularly.


Steps on brushing your pet`s teeth:


1. Practice lifting their lip to see their teeth and reward with praise.


2. Put a small amount of pet toothpaste on your finger wrapped in gauze. Then lift their lip and gently rub the pet toothpaste over their teeth and gums.


3. Once your pet is comfortable with Step 2 you can try to introduce a pet friendly toothbrush. Start from the back of the mouth moving to the front while brushing in a circular motion.


4. When finished, offer them praise and plently of love to make brushing a positive experience.

Every day you make choices regarding your pet`s nutrition, level of exercise and overall well-being. Dental health care is a key component in your pet`s health. Improved oral health care can reduce the discomfort and medical problems that accompany periodontal disease:
